Enroute Saipan to Tokyo Narita International Airport on a JAL 747. ETA two hours and fifty minutes from takeoff to wheels touch down. Quite a bit faster than in B 29 days and no fighters or flak over the Empire. We drank a toast to all B 29ers of long ago days.

We walked the beaches at Ladder and Obyan. This is where most B29ers swam between missions. It was very quiet and beautiful on our visit.

On a 499th WW II hardstand. Hap and son Dan took a Pacific tour in 1999 via San Francisco to Honolulu- Guam- Tinian- Saipan- Tokyo to San Francisco.

With my son at American Memorial Park in the city of Garapan in Saipan. The park was dedicated in May 1994. 60th anniversary is planned for May 2004.
