A memorable day on the Invasion Beaches at Normandy, France in April 2003. To view the landing beaches from above and then walk on the sands triggered deep thoughts about the bravery of those guys who performed so magnificently against heavy odds.

The visits to the Normandy cemetery and view of over 10,000 white crosses in one cemetery is difficult to comprehend. Tears came freely. I returned a second time to the cemetery. I was alone and walked among those white crosses; reading names and expressing my thanks to those who never returned home.

Prime Meredian visit. While in London in April 2003 I was compelled to ride a boat from Big Ben dock area up the Thames River to visit Greenwich where the Prime Meredian is. That is sort of a Navigators paradise. One could straddle the Meridian Line with one foot in the Western Hemisphere and the other in the Eastern. We always used Greenwhich time in our life as Navigators.
