B 29-42-24616 of 497th of 73rd Wing was shot down on Mission 18 and crashed in central Chiba Prefecture East of Tokyo. This 93 year old lady was working in her garden area that afternoon of 1/27/45. We visited with her near this site in March 2002. She vividly recalled that incident of 57 years ago and described same in detail.
She smiled and waved as my Historian/ Interpreter friend and I departed. Perhaps she was also looking for closure of that incident of long ago days.
